Indications, Contra-Indications & Points of Attention

For the sake of your wellbeing

At Savia Rituals, we believe in the power of touch, relaxation, and conscious attention to the body. Every treatment is carefully tailored to you and to what you need in that moment.

To ensure that every treatment proceeds safely and pleasantly, there are situations in which a treatment cannot be performed, or where additional consultation is needed first.

We therefore ask you to share any health complaints, conditions, medication use, and recent treatments with us in advance.

Are you unsure whether a treatment is suitable for you? Feel free to contact us. We are happy to look together with you for a suitable and safe option.

Indications

Our treatments are aimed at relaxation, care, body awareness, and supporting natural wellbeing.

Depending on the chosen treatment, they may be suitable for:

  • Stress and tension

  • A tense or tired feeling

  • Tension headaches

  • Difficulty relaxing

  • Dull or tired-looking skin

  • Sagging skin

  • Fine lines and wrinkles

  • Tension in the face, jaw, and neck

  • A feeling of a tired or heavy face

  • A need for deep relaxation

  • A need for a moment of rest and self-care

  • Supporting body awareness

  • Relaxation around breathing and being consciously present in the body

The effects and experience of a treatment vary from person to person. A treatment is not a substitute for medical care.

Contra-Indications & Points of Attention

The following information applies to the treatments Honey (Connective Tissue) Massage, Facial Cupping, Japanese Facial Massage, and Buccal Massage.

When do we not treat?

To ensure the safety of your treatment, we do not perform these treatments in cases of:

  • Pregnancy

  • Breastfeeding

  • Cancer or active oncological treatment

  • Less than 6 months after chemotherapy

  • Serious heart, liver, or kidney conditions

  • Thrombosis or suspected thrombosis

  • Hemophilia or serious blood clotting disorders

  • Fever

  • An active infectious disease

  • Flu, strep throat, or similar acute illness

  • Clearly reduced general health

  • General unwellness, for example unexplained dizziness, extreme weight loss, extreme fatigue, or exhaustion

  • Acute inflammation

  • Open wounds or unhealed skin

  • Active skin infections

  • A cold sore or other active inflammation/infection on the face

  • Severe active acne

  • An active flare-up of eczema or psoriasis in the area to be treated

  • Recent trauma, serious injury, or an unhealed fracture

  • Under 18 years of age

If in doubt about your health or situation, medical advice may need to be obtained first.

Botox, Fillers, and Cosmetic Treatments

After cosmetic treatments, the skin and underlying tissue need time to recover.

We therefore apply the following guidelines:

  • No treatment within 6 weeks after botox and/or fillers in the area to be treated.

  • No treatment within 2 weeks after a chemical peel, microneedling, laser treatment, or other intensive cosmetic procedure on the face.

  • After laser hair removal on the area to be treated, we maintain a minimum of 2 weeks.

  • After a laser treatment on the treated area, we maintain a minimum of 1 week, unless the specific treatment requires a longer recovery time.

If in doubt about a recent cosmetic treatment, we ask you to contact us in advance.

Extra Attention for Honey (Connective Tissue) Massage

The Honey (Connective Tissue) Massage is a more intensive treatment that includes, among other things, a scrub and a specific massage technique.

This treatment is therefore not suitable in cases of:

  • A honey allergy

  • Very sensitive or damaged skin

  • Open wounds

  • Active skin infections

  • Active inflammation

  • An active flare-up of eczema or psoriasis

  • Severe active acne

  • A recently performed intensive skin treatment

After certain skin treatments, we maintain sufficient recovery time. Due to the scrub and the more intensive effect of the treatment, we generally recommend a minimum of 2 weeks between an intensive skin treatment and the Honey (Connective Tissue) Massage.

Extra Attention for Facial Cupping

Facial Cupping uses light vacuum techniques on the skin.

This treatment is not performed on areas with:

  • Open wounds

  • Active inflammation

  • Cold sores

  • Active skin infections

  • Severe active acne

  • Damaged or heavily irritated skin

  • Unhealed scars or surgical wounds

In the case of very fragile skin, easy bruising, or certain medical conditions, consultation in advance may be necessary.

Extra Attention for Japanese Facial Massage

The Japanese Facial Massage is a relaxing and rhythmic massage of, among other areas, the face, head, neck, and shoulders.

In cases of acute pain, serious neck or shoulder complaints, recent injury, or other medical complaints requiring treatment by a doctor, the massage is not performed until clarity or medical approval has been obtained.

Extra Attention for Buccal Massage

Buccal Massage involves working both on the outside of the face and intra-orally (inside the mouth).

Therefore, this treatment is not suitable in cases of:

  • Active cold sore

  • Active inflammation or infections in or around the mouth

  • Open wounds in the mouth

  • Serious canker sores or other painful damage to the oral mucosa

  • Dental procedures that have not yet fully healed

  • Acute jaw or tooth pain requiring medical or dental assessment

  • An active throat or mouth infection

The treatment is carried out in accordance with appropriate hygiene and safety measures.

When is Prior Consultation with a Doctor Needed?

Some conditions do not automatically constitute a contra-indication but do require extra caution.

Discuss it with your doctor in advance if you, for example:

  • Have asthma or serious respiratory problems

  • Have diabetes

  • Have fibromyalgia

  • Have arthritis or rheumatism

  • Have osteoporosis

  • Have migraines

  • Have high or low blood pressure and are under treatment for it

  • Have varicose veins

  • Have mental health conditions for which you receive medical treatment

  • Have a neurological condition

  • Use medication that affects blood clotting

  • Have recently had surgery or a medical procedure

  • Have any other medical condition you are unsure about

After medical approval, you can always discuss your situation with us so that we can determine whether and how the treatment can be adapted.

Singing Bowls on the Body

The vibrations and sounds can help create a moment of rest and support body awareness.

Stress and tension >> Promoting relaxation

Muscle tension >> Supporting physical relaxation

Restlessness >> Promoting calm and body awareness

Tension-related fatigue >> Supporting relaxation and a moment of recovery

Difficulty relaxing >> Supporting deep relaxation

Meditation or mindfulness >> Supporting concentration and body awareness

Tension-related sleep problems >> Supporting relaxation before sleep

Important: singing bowls are a wellness and complementary application. They do not treat any disease or medical condition and are not a substitute for medical care.

Contra-indications for Singing Bowls on the Body

In the following situations, singing bowls are not applied directly to the body, or prior medical consultation is needed:

  • Pregnancy – especially no application on or directly around the abdomen. If in doubt, consult a midwife or doctor first.

  • Pacemaker, ICD, or other implanted electronic device – no strong vibrations on or near the implant without medical advice.

  • Epilepsy – caution is needed with strong or unexpected sounds and vibrations.

  • Recent surgery or not-yet-healed tissue

  • Open wounds, skin infections, or serious skin problems

  • Acute inflammation or fever

  • Thrombosis or suspicion thereof

  • Unexplained, acute, or severe pain

  • Serious heart and vascular problems – consult a doctor first

  • Serious osteoporosis or an increased risk of bone fractures

  • Recent trauma, a fracture, or serious injury

  • Cancer – no application over a tumor or a recently treated area. If in doubt, consult the treating doctor first.

Where Do We Avoid Placing the Singing Bowl Directly?

Direct application of a singing bowl is avoided on:

  • The spine and bony protrusions when these are painful or fragile

  • The neck and throat

  • The eyes and head with strong vibrations

  • Open or irritated skin

  • Recent scars or surgical wounds

  • Areas with reduced sensation, for example due to nerve damage

  • Other areas that are painful, damaged, or medically fragile

The intensity, placement, and method of working are always tailored to the person and the situation.
